Saying goodbye to San Francisco

Though...actually.....going on one of their famous cable cars was one of the first things we did....very early on our first full day....our body clocks still on UK time we woke at some ungodly hour....the first cable car stop was just round the corner from our hotel.....and we were there....on a very chilly morning [who knew San Francisco could be colder than London!!!]......waiting for one of the first cable cars to take us down to Fishermans Wharf.
It was an interesting start to our holiday.......the conductor had a row with a passenger who refused to show a ticket or buy one.....we quickly realised from their heated conversation that this was an ongoing battle......he called for an inspector.....who arrived 10 minutes later.....and the passenger immediately produced a ticket....the inspector had a calm, but firm, talk with her before we set off!!!!
We were in no hurry.....so just enjoyed the three way exchange.....and the conductor's ongoing grumbles.......and the woman's mutterings......throughout the journey.
We did alright out of it.....the conductor apologised to us for all the delays.....and waived payment!!!
[I'm not sure whether to put this story on the front of the page.....or hidden on the back.]
We were certainly ready for a big breakfast of American pancakes.......before starting a city tour on the hop-on-hop-off bus.
Thia will probably be my last San Francisco page......I've plenty more photos.....but I think they will go into the album in divided page protectors.....so now to move onto Hawaii.

This is fab and thanks for sharing the story behind it too - did you nip in to Sephora whilst waiting for the cable car? Or wasn't it open at that hour? Really looking forward to your layouts of Hawaii

Have a great weekend

What a great story. We're just back and you've made me think: the people watching is one of the best bits of being away isn't it!

Isn't that ironic - you didn't have to pay for your tickets because she tried to refuse to pay, but had to, for hers! That paper strip with the route on is a lovely touch, and that paper just suits the colour of the cable car. What adventures you have had!
